Mark Westcott is famed as a television producer and director, having worked with leading TV stars such as Bear Grylls to create award-winning programmes loved by the British public. A Fellow of the Royal Geographic Society, Mark has worked in extreme environments around the world, experiencing everything from jungles in South America to ice sheets in Greenland. Famed for his work as a producer and director, Mark first began his work on TV back in 1992, producing ‘American Affair’, a show that looked at the influence of American pop culture on the British way of life. He then went on to be a Director on ‘The Clothes Show’, followed by directing episodes of ‘DIY SOS’. He is also known for being a Director on ‘Escape to the Legion’, working alongside Bear Grylls, ‘Man Versus Wild’, and ‘Bear Grylls: Mission Survive’. He is also widely known for being a co-founder of White Tomato, the late Gary Rhodes’ TV production company.
Mark has also been the director of ‘Science of Survival: Amazon’ and selected episodes of ‘Raging Planet’, ‘Raging Planet Avalanche’ and ‘Raging Planet Lightning’. In 2020, during the Covid-19 pandemic, Mark co-founded Marshal Bishop, a company dedicated to creating and producing television with people from across the globe. Their first commission saw them create ‘Called to the Wild’, a series that was shown on National Geographic Wild in the UK and on Disney+. Outside of producing TV series, Mark is also a member of the Royal Over-Seas League and a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society.
