With over 25 years of experience in journalism, Marina has covered a range of topics over her career, from celebrities and sports to pop culture moments and politicians. Hilarious and witty, Marina shares her tales and anecdotes from fast-paced, sometimes unbelievable industries.
Beginning her career as a temporary secretary on the Showbiz desk at The Sun newspaper, Marina soon joined The Guardian to write the newspaper’s Diary column. Her satirical commentaries on the tumultuous events within politics, the often-superficial nature of celebrities and their legal battles, numerous shocking scandals and social justice movements, as well as various sporting events, including their striking controversies, have made her a renowned and significant figure within the journalism space. She has contributed to other publications such as Esquire, Huffpost, Vogue, Newsbreak and more, furthering her reach as a columnist. In 2023, she became the co-host of The Rest is Entertainment podcast with Richard Osman, where the pair use their unique positions within the media space to share their insights on the latest celebrity gossip, cultural trends and television/film releases. By 2024, the show had reached over two million downloads, the same year Marina and Richard hosted a live version at Royal Albert Hall.
As a result of her incredible work, Marina has been honoured with a wide range of accolades across her career. She was the recipient of the Commentariat of the Year at the Editorial Intelligence Comment Awards, Commentator of the Year Award at the Editorial Intelligence Comment Awards, the London Press Club’s Edgar Wallace Award, Columnist of the Year Award at the British Journalism Awards, and the Political Commentator of the Year at the National Press Awards. In 2020, she won the Sports Journalist of the Year Award, becoming the first woman to receive the award in its 43-year history. Marina is the author of three books: ‘Celebrity’, ‘What Just Happened?’, and her newest book, ‘What a Time to Be Alive!’.
An influential and highly regarded figure with a bout of fascinating and behind-the-scenes stories, Marina is the perfect addition to a multitude of events for her humour, experience, and insightful perspectives.
