After completing a BBA in Sales, Marketing and Economics and a BA in Environmental Sustainability, Sustainable Design and Industrial Ecology at Western Colorado University, Maria began her career working as a Sustainability and Energy Efficiency Lead in the Sales Team of Motili. Having built expertise during her education as an Event & Sustainability Intern for Adams County Government, a Sustainability Ambassador of the Western State Colorado University Student Government, an Industrial Design Intern for Loop and a Material Flow Intern for TerraCycle, Maria had a significant impact in her role at Motili, creating the Energy & Carbon Savings Calculator and developing business on energy-efficient retrofits for commercial and multifamily properties. She was also the Co-Founder and President of Pi Sigma Epsilon, a company dedicated to business, marketing and sales fraternity.
In 2019, Maria became the Co-Founder of Equitable Solar Solutions, with whom she continues her work today supplying low-income families with access to solar energy at little to no cost. In 2020, Maria was promoted to Sustainability and Energy Efficiency Lead and National Account Manager for Motili. In late 2020, Maria left Motili to pursue Business Development for Iconergy, providing proposals for energy and sustainability consulting, efficiency audits and energy modelling. Now, Maria works with building owners to navigate policy requirements in relation to energy benchmarking and building performance. Aside from her professional career, Maria has volunteered as the Co-Chair of the Committee on the Environment for The American Institute of Architects and earned certification in Energy Efficiency Strategies for High-Performance Buildings from the US Green Building Council.
In recognition of her commitments, Maria has been named an American Solar Energy Society Emerging Young Professional and awarded the Alumni Award for Excellence from Western State Colorado University. Also named on the Dean's List and awarded the Inclusivity & Diversity Scholars Award from Western State Colorado University, it comes as no surprise that Maria was honoured on the Forbes 30 Under 30 List in 2022.
