Manoj graduated from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science with a degree in business administration in 1986, and followed with an MBA in Marketing and Strategy from Michigan State University in 1990. From there, Manoj founded two venture-backed software companies, launching Exterprise in 1998 and Webify in 2002, both of which were later successfully acquired by Commerce One and IBM, respectively. Over the next few years, Manoj held a series of high-profile leadership positions, including Senior Vice President of Commerce One, General Manager of IBM Watson, and Chairman of the Board of Directors at The Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. After his time as Chairman and Board Member of SparkCognition, Manoj became the Founding Managing Director of The Entrepreneurs' Fund, a venture capital firm located in the Silicon Valley.
Manoj's later career continued to build on his experience in business, investment, and AI. In 2014, he became the Executive Chairman of CognitiveScale, and later held roles such as Board Advisor for the London Stock Exchange Group. In 2017, Manoj founded Responsible AI Institute, a non-profit organisation dedicated to trustworthy and ethical AI. Shortly after, he co-founded and served as a Board Member of Bridgeweave Ltd, a cutting-edge fintech company leveraging artificial intelligence to develop investment tools for retail investors, advisers, and asset managers. Utilising his experience across AI and business, Manoj now also lectures at The University of Texas and is a fellow contributor at Cambridge University.
