Lesley Mitchell

Lesley Mitchell leads a successful career in sustainability, currently working as the Associate Director for Sustainable Nutrition for Forum for the Future. Working alongside her expert team, Lesley leads a programme focussing on everything from the future of protein to regenerative agriculture. Lesley’s first major role saw her work as the Director of Research & Food Policy for Compassion in World Farming back in 2004. Working there for six years, she then moved on to become the International Head of Policy for World Animal Protection. She then went on to become the Director of Good Food Futures Ltd, a sustainable food consultancy that focused on sustainable livestock solutions and saw Lesley work with major corporations such as the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation. In this role she helped to shape UN policy recommendations regarding welfare and food security, working in partnership with the Global Agenda for Sustainable Livestock.

In 2018, Lesley joined Forum for the Future as their Associate Director for Sustainable Nutrition. In this role, Lesley is making an accelerated change towards a sustainable future, catalysing change in all areas from apparel to food and shipping to energy. With over two decades of strategic program leadership experience to her name, Lesley has worked with countless high-level stakeholders and major global conveners across industry, academia and governmental bodies. Having also achieved a doctorate in animal welfare science from Oxford University, Lesley also has practical on-farm assessment experience.

Collaborating with major official bodies across the globe, Lesley is a driving force in helping the world to achieve climate, environmental and development ambitions.
