Lee Carter is a passionate LGBTQ+ activist who delivers deeply personal talks to openly share his journey and inspire others. Lee uses his personal experience, growing up as a transgender man with gender dysphoria, along with understanding issues that many go through, such as anxiety, addictions and trauma, to motivate his audiences through the healing process. As the owner of a private practice for counselling and therapy, he is a certified Rapid Transformational Counsellor, registered with BACP and Accredited in Addictions Counselling. He is currently continuing to widen his knowledge at the University of Essex with a BSc Hons in Psychology.
Lee began his career with a Bachelor of Arts Hons degree from the University of Hertfordshire, graduating in 2014. Shortly after, in 2016, Lee published his first book, “Living with Lisa”, where he spoke about his journey from trauma to spiritual healing. Lee describes angels that both literally and figuratively guided him towards healing. The powerful autobiography appeared in the UK Psychic magazine and received an honourable 5-star rating. He is currently in the exciting process of adapting this book into a film documentary to spread his story with networks including Netflix and Viral TV. After his first book's success, Lee published “Transmangelic” as a continuation of his journey, exploring his personal experiences through childhood wounds and the path to discovering self-worth.
Through Lee’s passion for advocating for transgender rights and mental health, in 2022, he appeared in the Channel 4 documentary “Man with a Penis on his Arm”, where he broadened conversations. Additionally, in the same year, Lee participated in Clacton Pride, speaking about his experience growing up as a transgender man and completing book signings for his successful writings. He is now a core advocate for Clacton Pride and a committee member to ensure the advocacy for LGBTQ+ continues. As his flourishing career further developed, he became a freelance counsellor in 2023, leading him to open his private practice to provide a safe and supportive environment.
Throughout his career, Lee has appeared on ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5 and the BBC as a speaker and author to identify many issues that people struggle with. As a trans man who lived with gender dysphoria, his keynote speeches cover relatable topics that leave audiences emotional yet inspired. He intertwines meditations, breathing techniques and powerful affirmations combined with metaphysics and the understanding of neuroscience to support others in repairing and reclaiming their lives.
