The first female winner of The Apprentice since the show’s format change, Leah Totton’s career has gone from strength to strength since she was awarded a £250,000 investment by Lord Alan Sugar on the BBC reality show. A qualified physician, Leah’s cosmetic business is continuing to thrive and she is also an excellent after dinner speaker who has fought back against the stereotype to become one of the countries most accomplished entrepreneurs. Born in Northern Ireland in 1988, Leah’s ambition was clear to see from a young age and she graduated from the University of East Anglia with a degree in medicine becoming a fully qualified physician in 2011.
This made her a member of the General Medical Council and her passion for healthcare is clear to see during all her after dinner speaking engagements. In 2013 Leah put herself up against thousands of other applicants by entering reality show The Apprentice. With an investment opportunity with business magnate Lord Sugar on offer for the winner, Leah was an instant favourite with both the viewers and the people on the show with her academic record and superb business skills impressing Lord Sugar. She launched her cosmetic business Dr. Leah Clinic in 2014 alongside Lord Sugar and the company has been meeting all its financial targets ahead of schedule. With there being lots of controversial issues surrounding cosmetic surgery, Leah has always ensured that the highest possible standards are practiced within her business.
She has frequently spoken out regarding better regulation and improving industry standards, and these are issues she can expertly discuss during her after dinner speaking events. Having been recently named as one of the top 10 entrepreneurs in the UK, Leah regularly contributes to the Evening Standard newspaper offering her invaluable advice on cosmetic issues. Due to the continuing success of her surgeries, it has meant that Leah does not need to spend all her time there which has led her to getting back into the medicine profession part time. For half of the week she now splits her time between working on a locum basis in A&E and the cosmetic business.
