Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen is the eccentric homestyle consultant that everyone wants to influence their homes. Recognised for his extensive media work, Laurence has transitioned his talents into presenting and judging, supporting others in their home improvements. Rising to public prominence on Changing Rooms, Laurence fronted the house swap décor program where he crafted bespoke designs for participants. Known for his eclectic taste, Laurence’s originality acted as inspiration for audiences. Since the late 90s, Laurence has never been far from the small screen, designing, judging, and presenting all manner of home and style-related series. From educational episodes like Taste which explored the history of interior design, through to House Rules and The Apartment where he expertly judges amateur styles, Laurence excels in every format of media work, which ensures he remains a popular presenter. Most recently he has starred in the Netflix hit show ‘Instant Hotel’ where he critiques and advises on homestays.

With a flair for art from an early age, Laurence put his passion for needlework to practice when he completed a fine art degree at the Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts. Entering his professional career, Laurence pursued interior design, a natural at working to a brief whilst injecting his own creativity to ensure client approval, he began working at Peter Leonard Associates. With creativity comes individuality, and Laurence’s distinctive style was garnering much acclaim, so much so that in 1989 he founded his own design company, where he had artistic freedom to create impeccable designs.

As the Creative Director of the Blackpool Illuminations, Laurence is the artist behind much of the cultural attraction’s legendary designs. Having worked with the light display team since 2007, his influence has contributed to the continued international success of the attraction and amplified his capabilities as a varied artist. From Artisan Furniture to exquisite wallpaper, fans of the interior designer can now add his finesse to their homes.
