Andy Kane, also known as the DIY expert and TV presenter, landed the job as the Changing Rooms carpenter and handyman after working at the house of a BBC designer who invited him to audition for a role in a new interior design series. Her producer loved Andy, whose cheeky persona but accomplished carpentry caused him to stand-out from the crowd and Andy was suddenly launched into the spot light. The same personality and work ethic caused Andy Kane to capture the hearts of the British public and he quickly became a staple part of the Changing Rooms TV presenter team. An international success, Changing Rooms was one of the most highly rated shows on the BBC during the late 90’s, it won numerous awards and Andy, along with the shows other TV presenters, became an instant celebrity.

Still known for his down to earth approach to his work and charming London banter, Andy Kane remains a popular guest on a number of British TV series, his work as a TV presenter for Changing Rooms demonstrating that this trained carpenter could also turn his hand to public speaker and entertainment. Soon Handy Andy was working as the lead TV presenter on his own series, providing advice on the Sky One show One to Three and heading up the BBC1 daytime show Change That. Andy Kane continues to work as a television and radio presenter for design and construction shows, making guest appearances on current affairs series and reality makeover shows. He notoriously helped reshape the appearance of Liverpool’s infamous fictional close, Brookside, in A Close Guide To, and presented numerous series of the UK Style show Room Rivals, later going on to act as the TV presenter for the shows spin off, Garden Rivals.

Andy Kane has also been actively involved in the education and development of both adults and children, through his work as a television and radio presenter Handy Andy contributed to a popular maths series for CBBC Education and then went on to present the series Weather, Place and People. Subsequently Andy was chosen by the BBC to be one of only six main names and faces to promote their Raw Campaign which helps adults with reading and writing difficulties. Still working prolifically as a television and radio presenter Andy Kane is the leading DIY advisor for Sky Active and has worked as the main TV presenter for the popular Living TV series How To Increase Your House Price By 10K. The show was so popular that it was commissioned for multiple series and has gone on to be shown on BBC America.
