Lauren Wasser is a beloved model popularly known as fashion’s Girl with Golden Legs. Afflicted with the life-threatening Toxic Shock Syndrome in 2012, Lauren’s life as she knew it, changed. She was given a 1% change of survival and was placed in a medically induced coma, but against all odds, Lauren made it out alive.
Born to model parents, Lauren’s first foray into the world of fashion was at 2 months old. She appeared in the Italian Vogue with her mother. She was a burgeoning model, when at 24, she contracted TSS as a result of using a tampon as instructed, something millions of women do every day. She overcame a kidney failure, two heart attacks, and the amputation of her right leg, only to continue to suffer excruciating pain in her leg, which she voluntarily had amputated in 2018.
Lauren’s is a story of taking back control. Despite the devastating incidents she had to undergo, she found within her the courage to pursue her goals. She launched her new, golden legs at the 2018 New York Fashion Week – exhibiting an unimaginable amount of resilience, vulnerability and strength. Calling attention to the issue of women’s feminine hygiene safety, Lauren has become a spokesperson for women’s health.
Named Harper’s Bazaar UK’s and Glamour Germany’s ‘Woman of the Year’, Lauren was included in the Forbes 30 Under 30 List in 2017. Achieving new heights every day, she closed the Louis Vuitton 2023 Sunset Cruise Runway Show, was the face of a campaign for Shiseido and has been on covers of countless magazines. Lauren Wasser is using her platform as a speaker to raise awareness around the pitfalls of feminine hygiene products and is advocating for more attention to be paid to women’s health. If you are looking for an inspirational keynote speaker, look no further than Lauren Wasser.
