Larissa Suzuki, Visiting Researcher at the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, stepped into the world of science at the nascent age of 15 and has since contributed to it in magnificent ways. Her experience in the AI and machine learning space has extended to space science, healthcare, finance and robotics industries. Serving as the Technical Director at Google, Larissa works in the tech giant’s CTO office. Larissa’s stellar educational qualifications include a MPhil degree from the University of Sao Paulo, and a PhD in Computer Science from UCL. She has revolutionised AI space applications and her work is instrumental in supporting engineers and astronauts. Author of “Data as Infrastructure for Smart Cities”, Larissa has also delivered the TEDx talk “What Are Smart Cities?”. Lauded for her work, she was named Woman of the Year at the 2022 Women in IT Awards and featured in Financial Times Top 50 Women in European Tech list, in addition to her countless other accolades.
Outside of revolutionising the world of science, Larissa is also dedicated to making it more accessible and equitable. As a young woman in a fairly male dominated industry, Larissa is determined to increase representation, therefore she founded AppStudio, UCL Society of Women Engineers and The KOI Circle, which is the largest Women in STEM group on LinkedIn.
