Keke Rosberg is famed for his talents as a race car driver, formerly finding fame as a part of Theodore, Wolf, Williams and McLaren teams to name but a few. Father of Nico Rosberg, the family name has become iconic in the racing industry and they have left their mark in the history books. After retiring from racing, Keke enjoyed success as an F1 manager and is now also booked as a speaker for a range of motorsports themed events, sharing anecdotes of his time behind the wheel.
Best known for his talents as a race driver, one of Keke’s greatest achievements is recognised as his win of the 1982 Formula One World Championship, claiming the win at the 1982 Swiss Grand Prix. After claiming five major wins, Keke decided to leave driving behind to focus on the management of racing drivers. Keke managed top drivers such as JJ Lehto and Mika Hӓkkinen, as well as his own son Nico Rosberg who went on to become the 2016 Formula One World Champion.
Born in Sweden, Keke started his F1 racing career at the age of 29, considered to be quite old to start his racing career. Despite this, Keke showed his promise as an F1 racer after time competing in Formula Vee, a junior form of the sport and began racing as part of the Theodore Team. Keke claimed his first victory in the BRDC International Trophy. Keke later went on to become a member of the ATS, Wolf and Fittipaldi Automotive Teams. After failing to secure many victories with these teams, Keke caught the eye of the Williams Team, with whom he went on to claim victory at the Swiss Grand Prix. He later went on to win the Drivers’ Championship, achieving a five-point gap.
After achieving victory with the Williams Team, Keke joined McLaren in 1986. Unfortunately, Keke failed to claim victory with McLaren and claimed his last win at the 1985 Australian Grand Prix. After a short period of time with McLaren, Keke made the decision to retire from competing. However, this decision did not last long and Keke made a return behind the wheel, competing in the German Touring Car Championships, Peugeot’s competitive sportscar squad and the Spa 24 Hours endurance race. After enjoying these competitions, Keke made the decision to fully retire in a bid to focus on racing management, managing his son Nico Rosberg until 2008 and racing stars JJ Lehto and Mika Hӓkkinen.
With a successful career both on track and on the sidelines, Keke is now booked as a speaker for a range of after dinner and motorsports themed events. Having remained an active influence in the racing industry after his retirement from competing, Keke has collected a number of anecdotes of which he can share as a speaker, sharing the drive and determination it took to succeed as a driver in elite competitions. A respected industry professional Keke Rosberg is the perfect choice for a speaker at motorsport themed events.
