Katie Prescott

Katie Prescott is a leading business journalist and the current Technology Business Editor for The Times. Presently, Katie is responsible for covering technology news, in addition to writing a weekly column in the business section for The Times. Exceptionally good at communicating complex business topics to a range of different audiences, Katie can speak proficiently on various topics, including commodities, retail, tax, financial services, and technology.

Before joining The Times, Katie spent over a decade working for the BBC as a business presenter and correspondent, predominantly working on the Today programme. She has had the opportunity to work globally covering several business topics in a range of different countries such as Russia, China, East Africa, and Northern Ireland. Furthermore, Katie has been a regular presenter for Wake Up To Money and has led interviews with business leaders where she challenged them and analysed their company’s business performance.

Katie began her career in the aftermath of the financial crisis and has covered several complex events, including the European debt crisis, Covid pandemic, sustainability, and climate change. She is incredibly talented at her job and can bring stories to life for a range of audiences regardless of their business proficiency, in addition to tailoring her style for radio, TV and online audiences. Furthermore, Katie can speak French and Italian fluently, allowing her to deliver presentations in those languages if that is required.

Katie holds a BA Hons in Modern and Medieval Languages from the University of Oxford and has completed a postgraduate diploma in Broadcast Journalism from Cardiff University. She is a very talented individual who has over a decade worth of experience working as a business correspondent for some of the leading news broadcasters and can speak articulately about several business topics and technology, tailoring her approach to suit her audience.
