Paralympic skier and triathlete, Josh Landmann is a favourite amongst our motivational speakers for his down-to-earth and insightful delivery into his heartbreaking yet inspiring story to success. After recently coming to limelight for his appearance on The Ellen Show, Josh is in demand for his loveable charismatic way of motivating audiences of all varieties.
A story that began in 2014, Josh was in Ibiza on a holiday with his friends when he found himself paralysed from the chest down after diving into a swimming pool. Flown back to the UK by air ambulance, he received further treatment and was later told that he may never be able to walk again. Life-shattering news had Landmann in a state he had never found himself in before, unmotivated, weak and uncertain about his future.
Someone who once loved sports of all kinds, Josh became determined to return to his passion. He underwent extensively physiotherapy, mobility and strength training and has now managed to regain more ability than the doctors expected in his legs. He has also discovered sit-skiing in which he first attempted only two years after his diagnosis. Whilst training at a ski centre in Manchester, he was scouted by a Team GB coach and was invited to attend his first International Paralympic Committee Alpine Skiing event.
Throughout his paralympic career, Josh has represented Great Britain at the British National Championships on a few occasions and has also participated in Tough Mudder. In aid of disabled athlete charity BenTrend GetInvolved, he took on the five-mile course alongside his father where he captured the attention of the world with his inspiring efforts.
Most recently, Landmann has taken a step closer to achieving his dreams and competing at the Paralympic Games. He managed to secure himself a place on the British ParaTriathlon Talent Squad Programme in 2018 and has also tackled an international triathlon. With hopes to be selected for the 2020 Summer and 2022 Winter Paralympic Games, it’s evident that Josh Landmann has truly defied all expectations.
