Jeff Forshaw is a Professor of Particle Physics at the University of Manchester and a distinguished author of several bestselling science books. Intrigued with everything related to the heart of the universe, Jeff has resolved to understand as much about the universe as possible.
Studying the phenomenology of elementary particle physics, Jeff has dedicated his career to figuring out how existing data from the world’s particle physics experiments relate to the fundamental constituents of matters. He studies their interactions with one another and has published numerous papers on these subjects – increasing people’s understanding of our world. Jeff does the same when chosen to speak at events related to science. His talk on the Black Hole has been regarded as one of the Top 10 Must See Talks at the New Scientist Live.
A renowned author of bestselling books like “Black Holes: The Key to Understanding the Universe”, “Universal: A Guide to the Cosmos”, “The Quantum Universe” and “Why Does E=mc^2?”, Jeff has co-written these seminal works with his student Brian Cox. Despite having conducted incredible amounts of research on these subjects, Jeff still maintains that as a society we are only scratching the surface of something way beyond us. Jeff also answers questions related to science on The Guardian's Science Weekly podcast along with Brian Cox.
Lauded for his work several times over the years, Jeff is the proud recipient of the James Clerk Maxwell Medal and the Kelvin Prize, both of which were bestowed upon him in recognition of his contribution to physics. As a keynote speaker, Jeff offers his insights on the black hole, the big bang, and the quantum universe. Jeff’s speeches are nothing short of a celebration of the universe and all the tiny parts that make it the enigma it is.
