James Freedman

James Freeman is the 'world’s number one pickpocket' and a captivating entertainer. Self-proclaimed honest thief, Freeman is world-renowned for using his incredibly deceptive talents to not only stun audiences but advise government officials on security and fraud. His extensive knowledge of magic, illusions, trickery, and scams makes him a fascinating and educational speaker.

Before a career in magic, Freedman qualified as a chartered surveyor where he acquired the business acumen that aided in much of his later work with the law. What started as a hobby spiralled into a business opportunity after joining The Magic Circle in London. James created Magic Management, a company that uses the psychology behind magic tricks and applies it to businesses to increase profits. From this initial venture, Freedman gained attention as a master of deception, and opportunities developed to consult for the Metropolitan Police and offer specialist advice to the cast of Oliver Twist (2005), Dip (2010), Les Miserables (2012) and many more.

James Freedman becomes an invaluable asset to the police after proving his talents, by pickpocketing a number of protected officials including the Mayor of London. He was appointed the Fraud Prevention Ambassador, the first in the UK to receive the honor. Freedman’s work in the media also received praise, specifically the BBC show ‘Hustle’ which saw him awarded an Intermedia - Globe Silver Award at the 2010 World Media Festival. Passion for magic started Freedman’s hobby, however, he honed his craft at The Magic Circle, into a career. The Magic Circle awarded him with Close up Magician of the Year, twice and certified him a Gold Star Member of The Inner Magic Circle, a well-earned accolade.

After a sell-out run of his West End show ‘Man of Steal’, which was premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2015, James Freedman has returned with a new show for 2019. Freedman’s most recent work is ‘Moment of Truth’ a detailed insight into a range of topics from lie detector tests, to fraudulently accessing private information. Another intricate performance showing real-life application and impressing audiences at The Edinburgh Fringe. As a magician he is a genius, as an advisor he is knowledgeable and as a speaker, he is simply fascinating.
