Olympic speaker and British athlete Holly Bradshaw is a championship-winning track and field athlete who specialises in pole vaulting, still in her early twenties, Holly has high hopes of one day appearing as a contestant and sports speaker representing team GB at the Olympic Games.
Born in Lancashire Holly’s career hit the headlines when aged just nineteen, she broke the British Junior pole vault record in 2010. Later that year Holly Bradshaw went on to compete in the World Junior Championship where she won a bronze medal; since then Bradshaw has continued to compete, graduating from the Junior League in 2011 and taking part in her first European Indoor Championship vaulting a best of 4.45 metres. Holly has spent the last few years working as a sports speaker and touring the world competing in some of the most high profile vaulting competitions around.
In June 2011 Holly Bradshaw set a new Under 23’s British record, vaulting an impressive 4.53m, going on to break her own record when she vaulted 4.70 – setting a new Senior and Under 23 record – a few months later. 2012 offered further amazing opportunities for Bradshaw who participated in her first Olympic Games in London that summer as well as improving her existing British Indoor record with a vault of 4.87m.
By July 2012 Bradshaw was world number 3 and one of the most sought after Olympic speakers in the UK, and riding on the back of her bronze medal win at that year’s World Indoor Championships Holly Bradshaw became one of the many gold-medal hopefuls of the 2012 London Games. Reaching the final but crashing out after hitting the bar at 4.55 Holly eventually finished in the top 8 of the pole vaulting competition, however, she remains an active Olympic speaker has since gone on to win gold at the 2013 European Athletics Indoor Championships. in 2021, after the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games were postponed, Holly claimed Olympic Bronze in the Women's Pole Vault.
Holly has since represented Team GB at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games where she managed to reach the final round of her event. She has also gone onto win at the 2016 Diamond League in Zurich and the national outdoor championships in 2017. 2018 saw her take fourth place at the Commonwealth Games before winning the Athletics World Cup and securing bronze at the European Championships. Her victory at the 2019 indoor nationals led to her selection for the 2019 IAAF World Athletics Championships in which she finished an impressive fourth place.
