Gordon Corera is a security analyst, author, podcast host, and Visiting Professor with the Strand at King’s College London. As a former BBC News Security Correspondent, Gordon’s experience in analysing national security and computer technology issues across the globe has given him the rare ability to demystify the complex world of secret intelligence, history, politics and current affairs.
Initially making waves in political spheres, Gordon worked on Bill Clinton's successful re-election campaign before joining BBC News in 1997 as a researcher. During his two-decade-long career with the organisation, Gordon also worked on Radio 4’s ‘The World Tonight’, BBC2’s ‘Newsnight’, and worked in the US as the BBC’s State Department correspondent, serving as an analyst for the BBC’s coverage of the 2000 US Presidential Election. In 2004, Gordon became the Security Correspondent for BBC News, going on to cover intelligence agencies like MI6, MI5, GCHQ and the CIA, cybersecurity activities including digital espionage and hacking, terrorism and the post-9/11 landscape, as well as appearing in documentaries such as ‘MI6: A Century in the Shadows’ and ‘GCHQ: Cracking the Code’ for Radio 4 and BBC World Service. Gordon is currently a Visiting Professor with the Strand Group at King’s College London, recently discussing political history and cybersecurity.
Alongside his influential career in the media, Gordon is also a six-time published author, further expanding his expertise in journalism, politics, and secret intelligence. His published books include ‘Shopping for Bombs’, ‘MI6: Life and Death in the British Secret Service’, ‘Cyberspies’, ‘Secret Pigeon Service’, ‘Russians Among Us’, and the bestselling ‘The Spy in the Archive’. Since 2024, Gordon has been the co-host of ‘The Rest is Classified’ Podcast, through which he recently conducted a live show at the Southbank Centre.
