Dwyane Wade is a well know NBA Champion, a thirteen-time NBA All-Star, he was recently named on the NBA’s 75th Anniversary as one of the 75 greatest players in NBA history. He has played for the Chicago Bulls and Cleveland Cavaliers; however, he is especially recognised for playing for Miami Heat as number three. After 16 phenomenal years, Dwyane retired from basketball following a glorious 2018-2019 season, moving on to focus on multiple business ventures, philanthropic causes, a production company and sports presenting career.
Joining the Miami Heat in 2003, Dwyane was the fifth pick in the NBA Draft. Within his first year, he achieved All-Rookie team status and by 2006 he played an instrumental role in leading his team to the city’s first-ever NBA Championship. In 2004 and 2008 he represented the US in the Olympic Games, winning Gold in the latter. He went on to win his second and third NBA Championship in 2012 and 2013. His final 2018-2019 season was an exceptional one as he became the third player in NBA history to achieve record scores in assists, rebounds and more. He was recognised for blocking more shots than any guard in NBA history.
In 2020 Miami heat retired Wade’s number three jersey and Northeast 7th Street at Biscayne Boulevard was officially named Dwyane Wade Boulevard. Outside his extraordinary basketball talent, Dwyane is known for his great fashion sense and can be credited with NBA’s fashion revolution. He was selected to be the first ambassador for the Men’s Fashion Week in 2015. Since retiring from basketball, he has partnered and collaborated with DSquared2, BallerTV, Stance, Budweiser, Mars Reel, and Li-Ning and was the first athlete to create a store with Amazon Fashion.
Dwyane's production company 59th & Prairie Entertainment has been nominated for an Emmy for the documentary Shot in the Dark and won an Oscar for the short film Hair Love. Recently he signed a multi-year deal to be on TNT’s NBA event coverage in addition to Tuesday night coverage where he will appear alongside the legend Shaquille O’ Neal and Cadence Parker. In 2020 Dwyane was featured on the 2020 TIME 100 list and TIME’s annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world.
