Dion Dublin is a former footballer, who impressed fans with his talents as a centre-forward and striker for Aston Villa and Manchester United. Having also been capped four times for England, Dion solidified his reputation as a talented footballer and earned further contracts with teams such as Millwall, Leicester City, Coventry City and Celtic. First playing football whilst at school for teams such as Wigston Fields and Thurmaston Magpies, Dion joined his first professional team – Norwich City. Unfortunately, Dion did not achieve a place on the first team and he transferred to Cambridge United where he played as a striker. He was then signed to Manchester United, achieving 12 League appearances, before being signed to Coventry City. During his time with Coventry City, Dion earned a reputation as one of the Premier League’s top strikers and equalled the record for the most goals in a top division season. Dion has also played for Aston Villa, achieving 155 League appearances, Leicester City, achieving 58 League appearances, and Celtic where he achieved a Scottish League Cup and Scottish Premier League winner medals.
Outside of playing for club teams, Dion was also selected to represent the England national team, achieving four international caps for the team. He played in a match against Chile, in two matches in the King Hassan II International Cup Tournament and a match against the Czech Republic. Throughout his footballing career, Dion was awarded the 1997-98 Premier League Golden Boot, named the Premier League Player of the Month in January 1998 and November 1998 and inducted into the Coventry City Hall of Fame. After his retirement, Dion moved on to become a pundit for Sky Sports and commented on the UEFA Champions League and featured on Ford Super Sunday.
Having also been the presenter of 606 on BBC Radio 5 Live and one of the presenters on Homes Under The Hammer, Dion is now a popular choice as a host or after dinner speaker for a range of events.
