Former professional footballer and sports speaker, Dave Howell is most well-known for the time he spent as the defender for a number of London based football clubs including Fulham, Enfield and Barnet. Since his retirement in the mid-1990s, Howell has worked as a football speaker and manager for a number of British clubs.
With six years at Fulham Football Club the London born Dave Howell is often called upon to act as a football speaker for his previous club, though he never made it to the first team he remains a popular player amongst Fulham fans and has also garnered a great deal of devotion from fans of his later clubs. Playing for both Barnet and Enfield in his senior career Dave Howell has also appeared at a number of after dinner speaker events for Enfield fans and club members.
In the final years of his playing career, Dave Howell worked closely with fellow sports speakers Barry Fry and Edwin Stein, both former players and accomplished managers, where he began to learn the ropes of football management. His return to former club Harrow Borough in the late 1990s saw Howell work as assistant manager to Stein.
In 2004 Dave Howell began working as a dedicated football speaker and manager for Harrow where he stayed for a further five years, leaving in 2011 after taking the club through their best season yet. Despite moving to St Albans City for a year Dave continues to appear as an after dinner speaker at Harrow Borough club events and speaks fondly of his time with the team.
