Darragh Ennis, best known as 'The Menace' on ITV's 'The Chase', is a professional quiz master and highly-regarded television personality. Driven by a passion for discovery, he went on to work as a Biomedical Scientist at ICON plc in 2008, gaining valuable experience in applied research within a commercial environment. He later became a Postdoctoral Fellow at Concordia University, contributing to international research projects. On returning to the UK, he took on the role of Lab Manager and Research Technician at the University of Oxford and the University of Glasgow, where his work advanced understanding of brain development and RNA biology.
In 2015, Darragh made his TV debut, appearing as a contestant on the game show 'ReBound'. Only two years later, he participated in a winning team on 'The Chase', earning an impressive £9000 in his 'cash builder' round, carrying his team to victory. With his impeccable performance, it was announced that he would become the sixth member of 'The Chase' and 'Beat The Chasers' in 2020, alongside Mark Labbett, Shaun Wallace, Anne Hegerty, Paul Sinha and Jenny Ryan, with the show's host Bradley Walsh. From that moment on, he has become a household name across the UK and a sought-after TV personality, participating in ITV's charity singing competition 'Britain Get Singing' to raise funds and awareness for mental health.
Despite his growing on-screen presence, Darragh continues to widen his research by publishing his first book in 2024 titled 'The Body: 10 Things You Should Know'.
