Christian Malcolm

Welsh athlete and Olympic speaker Christian Malcolm is a former Junior World Champion Athlete and is best known as a 200 metres runner; breaking junior, senior, indoor and Welsh national records Malcolm has become an icon in his home nation. Born in Cardiff and raised in Newport, Christian became a runner at a young age and began taking part in junior competitions before he was twenty and has been working as an Olympic speaker and racer ever since.

After turning down an offer to play for Nottingham Forest, Malcolm turned his focuses to athletics and almost instantly began winning titles including World Junior Athlete of the Year. He took silver at his very first Commonwealth Games after running the 200 metres in a record-breaking time of 20.29.

Throughout his career, Christian has achieved various medals through competing. He has a total of two gold, three silver and three bronze medals to his name from various World Championships and Commonwealth Games. He made his debut Olympic appearance at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games, coming in fifth and making a superb performance, Christian was applauded by both fans and commentators and it was at this point that his work as an Olympic speaker really began to take off. He later represented Team GB again at the 2008 Bejing Games where he continued to display a strong performance on the track.

Following on from the launch of the Christian Malcolm Sports Academy, he has now gone on to train and mentor various athletes for large events. His students have gone on to achieve gold medals in 2016 European and World Championships and Silvers in the 2018 European Games. As of 2019, Malcolm was named the Head of Performance and Coaching at Australia Athletics.

Malcolm has raced both solo and as part of the Great British sprinting team, taking part in the relay team for the 2001 World Championships. The highlight of Christian’s career arguably came in 2010 when he won a silver medal at the European Championships, as a sports speaker Christian discusses both his own brilliant achievements as well as those of his team events.
