Chris Ellison is an actor and British TV personality with a long running television career in shows such as the Bill, a popular TV crime drama, and a brief role in the BBC soap EastEnders. Beginning his career as an actor by appearing on stage at the Richmond Theatre, where he had previously worked at as an assistant stage manager, he went on to star in plays including Woman in a Dressing Gown.
Often cast as a tough guy or in roles that require intimidation Ellison has also demonstrated his more unusual and versatile acting abilities by appearing as less traditional characters, including playing a transvestite in the radio series the Change.
However Ellison’s career as a performer and notable TV personality would not truly take off until the late 1980’s when he began appearing as a guest perfromer in popular shows such as the Professionals and The Sweeney. His most memorable role remains that of DCI Frank Burnside in the popular and long running ITV police drama The Bill. As well as starring as a central character in the Bill Ellison’s character, DCI Burnside, was given his own spin off series, simply titled Burnside.
Following his sixteen year stint on the Bill Ellison’s reprisal of the Burnside character received a largely positive response and Ellison continues to have a substantial fan base.
