After a fateful meeting in a lift 30 years ago, Charlotte Smith’s passion for agricultural journalism began, leading to her being the proud President of the National Federation of Young Farmers Clubs. Charlotte’s knowledge is prevalent through her programmes on farming, food, environment, and rural life, on BBC TV and Radio in the UK.
After going on the BBC's Local Radio Reporters Scheme, she toured the local radio stations, from Cumbria to Devon. As well as offering a knowledgeable insight into agriculture, Charlotte also worked as a reporter for You and Yours, the lunch-time consumer programme on Radio 4.
More locally to her hometown of Leicestershire, Charlotte reported on East Midlands Today. This led to Charlotte presenting BBC1's Countryfile until 2009, where she continues to return as an occasional relief reporter. At present, Charlotte is a presenter of BBC Radio 4's Farming Today.
