Female activist, published author and political speaker, Catherine Mayer, is the co-founder and President of the Women's Equality Party. At the forefront of the fight for representation, she has dedicated her career to increasing the reach of female politicians. This talented author uses her platform to redefine gender stereotypes, through such acclaimed novels as Amortality: The Pleasures and Perils of Living Agelessly, Charles: The Heart of a King, and Attack of the Fifty Foot Women : How Gender Equality Can Save the World!. As a speaker, Catherine inspires an improved perspective in her audience, leaving a lasting positive impression.
Influenced by her message, Catherine is actively promoting a better understanding for female representation. She is no stranger to the stage, having herself founded the think tank Datum Future, meaning that an event featuring Catherine benefits from a seasoned professional. In her TED Talk, We Should All Be Hags, Catherine tackles the age old stigma surrounding female aging through one thought provoking question; "where do all the females go?". With over a thousand views, her speech is a testament to Catherine's talent, influence and engaging insight into female oppression.
Catherine is fuelled by her need to celebrate women, their abilities and their achievements. Following a highly successful career as a journalist for The Economist, Time and Focus, she later published her non-fiction book, Attack of the 50ft Women, in 2017. This wasn't Catherine's first gender driven act, as two years prior she partnered with Sandi Toksvig to found the Women's Equality Party. The political powerhouse fights for equality; equal pay, representation, media portrayal, education, health and to end violence against women. In her after dinner speeches, this inspiring individual discusses her political journey to prominence, encouraging her audience to take control of their own societal purpose as she has done.
Catherine cemented the purpose of the party in 2018, by describing how "the very first policy document made clear that WE supported “the right of all to define their sex or gender or to reject gendered divisions as they choose." And in 2019, the party won their first electoral seat. Upon spotting a gap in the market for female representation in music, Catherine co-founded the Primadonna Festival in 2019, which celebrates female musicians, writers and comedians. Catherine's speeches regularly inspire audiences to spearhead the equality movement in their own lives, whether professional or personal.
