Catherine Capon is an eco-tourism advocate, wildlife storyteller, and sustainability speaker on a mission to encourage more responsible travel and less mass tourism. Speaking for global organisations, environmental festivals, and travel events, Catherine is a leading voice in the push for greater global sustainability.
Graduating from Imperial College London, Catherine joined the BBC’s Science and Natural History Units, gaining invaluable experience in TV wildlife production, conservation journalism, and environmental campaigning that she would take into the rest of her career in wildlife filmmaking, sustainability marketing, and digital media. Catherine spent time working for the Discovery Channel before spending a short period at Sundog Pictures. In 2015, Catherine set herself the challenge of adventuring to 12 wildlife hotspots across the globe in 12 months, recording her experiences and uploading them to her YouTube channel. With her new focus on social media rather than television, Catherine has grown a loyal community across both her YouTube and Instagram pages, documenting her travels and passion for the environment.
With a deep enthusiasm for rewilding, women in climate leadership & linking nature with wellbeing, Catherine’s 15 years in documentary filmmaking and environmental campaigning have allowed her to hold various influential positions, such as Trustee for the European Nature Trust and the Big Blue Foundation. She is currently a communications consultant for the UK at the digital tree planting platform, Treedom.
An experienced keynote and panel speaker for a variety of engagements, Catherine’s dynamic and relatable style encourages audiences to rethink their travel plans and move towards a future of ecotourism. Through interviews with Lenovo, Divernet, and Global Nomadic, Cathrine has been able to express her dedication to science, adventure, and storytelling, blending the three to create a unique and insightful event beneficial for all kinds of audiences, from education to corporate arrangements. She has previously delivered talks at Leonardo’s World Environment Day, Gone Wild Festival, and The Perfect World Foundation Gala. An authentic and honest voice committed to the field of conservation, Catherine would make the perfect addition to any event.
