Steve Backshall is an award-winning wildlife expert, television presenter and after-dinner speaker, best known for co-presenting Blue Planet Live, Deadly 60 and making appearances on shows such as Springwatch. Steve possesses a degree in English and Theatre Studies at the University of Exeter, something that has bolstered his career as a writer. Author of several books such as “Expedition”, “Shark Seas”, “Ghosts of the Forest” and “Deep Blue”, Steve merges his zest for adventure and love for writing seamlessly. An all-action hero, Steve has been accredited with breaking the world record for the fastest time to paddle the length of the Thames River in 2023.
Having co-presented Big Blue Live along with Matt Barker and Liz Bonnin, Steve co-presented the highly acclaimed Blue Planet Live on BBC One. He has also become the subject of Steve Backshall’s Extreme Mountain Challenge, where he climbed one of Venezuela’s more dangerous Tepuis mountains, in addition to Down the Mighty River with Steve Backshall, Japan’s Northern Wilderness and Wild Alaska Live. With an incredible stage presence, Steve has also toured the UK with his sell out show ‘Ocean’.
