As a boy, Bryan Steel was much like many boys, uninterested in school, and not very athletic. Then he discovered a talent, cycling. This gave him an outlet and a passion. He made the British cycling team, which at the time was not a team recognised for excellence. Bryan participated in a revolutionary change management programme that catapulted the team to the world stage and Bryan with it, going on to win, win and win on the world and Olympic stage.
Throughout his competing career, Bryan represented Team GB at a total of four consecutive Summer Olympics. Along with the 1992, 1996, 2000 and 2004 games, he also represented England at three Commonwealth Games. After taking bronze in the 4,000 metres team pursuit at the 1990 Games, he continued to display his ability when he took silver at the 1994 and 2002 events.
Most recently, Steel has gone onto compete at the annual UCI Track Cycling World Championships, finishing second in the 2003 and 2002 competitions and has also become the first team pursuit at the 2004 UCI Track Cycling World Cup Classics in Sydney.
From a young, pessimistic schoolboy to World Class athlete, Bryan now shares the secrets of his success through his own development programme 'Winning Mindset'. With the formula for success being as applicable to the board room and business environment as it is to the playing field.
Bryan has developed a range of programs which inspire and motivate people into more positive activities, which will maximise their true potential. He promotes the fun and social qualities of cycling to encourage young people to ride their bikes more and live a healthier lifestyle. The programmes, from motivational talks, one-to-one mentoring to team workshops, are delivered to both corporations, SME's and sports organisations.
An experienced sportsman, mentor and speaker, Bryan Steel can deliver the most effective and insightful after-dinner speeches to a wide range of audiences. His positive and inspiring attitude can leave a lasting impression on those who he addresses and make revolutionary changes within their life and working style.
