Bruce Schneier

Bruce Schneier is a pioneering security and privacy technologist, widely recognised as the Founder and Chief Technology Officer of Counterpane Internet Security, which was later acquired by BT. He currently works as Chief of Security Architecture at Inrupt. With a degree in physics and a master's in computer science, Bruce’s early career was defined by his writing on cryptography for magazines and books. Adding to his work in cyber security, he served as the Chief Technology Officer at IBM for three years. Earning several honours for his valuable work in computer security, Bruce has received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Electronic Privacy Information Centre’s Champions of Freedom Event, the Business Leader in Cyber Security award by the Boston Global Forum and has been inducted into the Infosecurity Europe Hall of Fame. He continues to contribute to the wider cyber security conversation with his blog named ‘Schneier on Security’ and as an author with over 15 books, including bestsellers ‘Applied Cryptography’, ‘Secret and Lies’ and ‘Data and Goliath’. In 2011, Bruce was awarded an honorary Doctor of Science degree from the University of Westminster.
