Brendon McCullum is a renowned cricketer and widely regarded as an inspirational leadership speaker. He is also the author of his autobiography 'Declared'. As a speaker, he draws from his experiences as the former captain of the New Zealand cricket team and also from his current role as coach of the England men’s cricket team.
Brendon was a wicketkeeper-batsman who played for New Zealand in all three formats of the game: Test Cricket, One Day Internationals, and Twenty20 Internationals. He is best known for the transformation he brought to New Zealand cricket. He became captain in 2012 and introduced an aggressive, positive brand of cricket, encouraging his team to play without failure. He led New Zealand to greater heights including reaching the final of the 2015 Cricket World Cup. In 2004, Brendon played in a Test Series against England scoring 96 runs at Lord’s. His career began in 1999 where he made his debut for Otago in New Zealand domestic cricket. He made his international debut in 2002 and then became a regular fixture in the New Zealand side for over a decade. In 2007 Brendon achieved global recognition with an explosive 77 off 43 balls in the inaugural ICC T20 World Cup Match against Australia. Brendon has since gone on to be the first New Zealander to score a triple-century in Test cricket. Brendon has also written an autobiography 'Declared' where he opens up on the controversies he has been involved in.
Brendon is now both England Men’s Test Match and White Ball Head Coach, and is continuing to make a lasting impact on the global cricketing landscape. He has been instrumental in creating a new style of Test Cricket that’s attractive to watch and ultra aggressive. He also now dedicates his time to inspirational leadership speaking. Drawing on experiences from his exceptional career in cricket, he discusses transformational leadership, high-performance culture, courageous leadership and team building and cohesion. In 2023 he was invited to speak on transformational leadership at Diageo’s Global Leadership Conference in Dubai.
