Going on to become a 3-time Junior BMX European Champion, Axel achieved great heights in the sport at a very young age. Axel’s world changed at 20, when he met with an accident during the 2010 Latvian Motocross World Championship, leaving him without mobility in both his legs. Despite the challenges, Axel has been able to display tenacity and mental resilience, that make him a terrific example of overcoming adversity.
A 3-time Vice Champion for France at bicycle motocross (BMX), Axel became a Professional Motocross Driver when he turned 18. His accident in 2010 led to him becoming paraplegic and almost instantaneously made him a former motorsport champion who had little scope of reaching the heights he was used to reaching anymore. Defying all odds, Axel continued to pursue excellence as a sportsman. After his accident, Axel turned to swimming, where in a short span of time he was able to set the French records in the 100m freestyle, 50m butterfly and 50m freestyle categories. In 3 years, he was able to join the French Handisport Swimming Federation and is a 12-time French Champion.
Additionally, Axel has dominated the SSV world as the Winner of the 2017 British Enduro Championship, 2018 Pont-De-Vaux Competition and the 2020 Dakar Rally. In these side-by-side races, Axel competed with able-bodied people and yet came out on top – a testament to his excellence as a sportsman. Axel is the first paraplegic to start the Enduropale du Touquet. Documenting his journey, difficulties, successes and everything in between, Axel started his YouTube Channel in 2014 and is also an Ambassador for ISSEO Assurances as of 2024. Environmentally conscious, Axel is determined to perform motorsports in a way that is positive for the environment.
Author of “28 Principles for Bouncing Back”, Axel helps people understand how to overcome adversity, giving them tips on not getting bogged down by momentary failure. His TEDx talk "The Power of Resilience to Bounce Back in Your Life" also touches on similar subjects. At his core Axel is a wilful person who wants to prove to people that everything is possible. Having exemplified that the right mindset and mental resilience are key to achieving one’s goals, Axel is one of the most accomplished motivational speakers you could hire for your next event. His keynote addresses often highlight the importance of diversity & inclusion, confidence and mental resilience. When looking for an inspiring keynote speaker, look no further than Axel Alletru!
