Avye Couloute is accomplished beyond her years, standing as a 16-year-old coder, social entrepreneur and Founder of Girls Into Coding. Determined to correct the gross gender imbalance in the STEM fields, Avye wants to use her career and position as a speaker to encourage more women to pursue careers in this field.
Avye started to attend coding and physical computing workshops at the mere age of seven and today leads these sessions at the Coder Dojo at Kingston University & the University of West London. Avye was 10 years old when she launched Girls Into Coding, a platform through which young girls can dabble in coding, robotics, physical computing, engineering and 3D printing. She endeavours to encourage at least 1000 girls to get involved in the STEM fields every year.
Having impacted over 3000 girls across 16 countries, Avye’s work has been recognised by several notable committees. In 2022, she was included in the Forbes 30 Under 30 list in the Social Impact category. She has also received the Diana Legacy Award in addition to being named “One To Watch” at the FDM EveryWoman Tech Awards. She was also named UK Young Engineer of the Year in 2022.
An advocate for diversity and inclusion in the tech sectors, Avye is a girl on a mission.
