A writer, producer and director of major repute, Armando Giovanni Iannucci has a résumé as long as his name. Having spent 28 years in show business, Armando has continued to hold the fort for satirists, stand-up comedians and actors everywhere. A master of political mockery and creator of some of the most original and innovative television shows and films to come out of Britain, Armando is an inspirational figure in the history of British filmography.
Armando's first major collaboration came as co-creator of current affairs parody, The Day Today, alongside Chris Morris. The 1994 megahit was first created and broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in 1991 before moving onto television channel, BBC Two, picking up a host of awards. From there, Armando joined up once with Steve Coogan to co-create Knowing Me Knowing You with Alan Partridge and I'm Alan Partridge between 1994 and 2002.
As well as major success as a sitcom writer and director, Armando presented a number of shows including The Saturday Night Armistice and The Armando Iannucci Shows, as well as featuring as a panellist on the popular show, Have I Got News For You. Once again reinventing the wheel in 2005, Armando created the political sitcom, The Thick of It which earned critical acclaim and enjoyed four series until 2012. He followed this up with his second feature film, In the Loop in 2009, in the same vein as The Thick of It.
Alan Partridge returned to the screen in 2013 as Armando wrote and produced the feature film, Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa. In 2017, Armando wrote and produced the popular satirical film, The Death of Stalin which also enjoyed great success. A key figure in British broadcasting, there is no question about Armando's ability to consistently deliver quality shows with massive viewing numbers. Iannucci created the HBO political satire Veep, and was its show runner for four seasons from 2012 to 2015. He followed this with the feature film The Death of Stalin in 2017 and is planning an adaptation of David Copperfield.
