Andy Wyatt is widely known as a Red Arrows display pilot and motivational speaker. Throughout his long career in aviation, he has continually demonstrated a high level of skill in teamwork, leadership, planning and operations. Aged just 18, Andy made the life-changing decision to join the Royal Air Force and after flying training, was selected to fly the iconic English Electric Lightning where his role included intercepted intruding Russian aircraft at the height of the Cold War. After a period as a flying instructor, he was selected to join the RAF Aerobatic Team, The Red Arrows. He completed over 300 displays during his 3 years with the Team and was a member of the elite synchro pair. He was awarded the Queens Commendation for Valuable Services in the Air in 1992 and was promoted to Squadron Leader before taking command of 92 Squadron where he continued to fly the Hawk as a Qualified Weapons Instructor.
Having enjoyed a successful career in the RAF, Andy switched to commercial aviation in 1998 eventually become a Captain on the Boeing 747 for British Airways. Flying out of Heathrow and Gatwick airports, Andy used his flying skills to fly hundreds of passengers safely to their destinations across the world. After an impressive 23 years with British Airways, Andy helped to start up a cargo airline during the recent COVID pandemic called Longtail Aviation, where he became the Chief Pilot and flew PPE and vaccines around the world.
