Former Irish rugby union player Alan Quinlan is best known as the back-row for Munster Rugby. A turned commentator, Alan is the perfect addition to an event in search of an event host or conference facilitator as well as an after-dinner speaker who is able to cover valuable topics including teamwork, leadership and achieving peak performance. With his rugby career spanning a total of 17 years, Quinlan has amassed all of the desirable skills that rugby players are renowned for and is confident in relating them to corporate audiences as well as school and sports organisations.
Beginning his career as a car salesman, Alan eventually found his calling for rugby when he began playing for Clanwilliam FC. In 1993 he captained the Irish Youth Team in a match against Scotland before joining Shannon U20s in 1994. By 1996, he had joined Munster as captain of the youth team before securing himself a place as a first-team regular.
Throughout his domestic career with Munster, Quinlan became a pivotal part of the squad that won the AIB League Division 1 title and the Heineken Cup. He became the captain of the team that won the Heineken Cup for the second time earning him Man of the Match and also went onto contribute to the efforts of the Celtic League Champion squad in 2009. During the 2010 Heineken Cup, Alan represented Munster eight out of eight matches which added it to make him the most capped player of all time. He also enjoyed a brief international career scoring two tries throughout the 2003 World Cup tournament before dislocating his shoulder.
Most recently, Quinlan has gone onto become a highly recognisable TV presenter and rugby pundit. He was part of the commentation team for the ITV’s coverage of the 2011 World Cup and also regularly offers his game analysis to RTE and Sky Sports. An iconic name within the sports world, Alan Quinlan is a popular choice for offering advice to both corporate and sports audiences at events.
