Throughout his career, Abbas has held numerous positions that have contributed to his leadership as a renowned cybersecurity practitioner. Working with the world’s leading organisations and governments, he has been the CISO for eGovernment Authority for the Kingdom of Bahrain, Manager of Information Security at the National Bank of Kuwait and CISO for Public Transport Victoria and later KPMG Australia.
Abbas has also consolidated his widely esteemed knowledge of cybersecurity into 3 books: “Threat Hunting in the Cloud”, “Zero Trust Journey Across the Digital Estate” and “Managing Risks in Digital Transformation”. He was also appointed Professor of Cybersecurity at La Trobe University, where he offers students valuable lessons in cybersecurity that will be beneficial to them when they enter the profession. Before he assumed responsibility for his current role, Abbas served as APAC Chief Cybersecurity Advisor for Microsoft. Additionally, Abbas is a Research Director for ISACA and Global Threat Advisory Board Member for EC-Council ASEAN.
