James Raath was born in London but grew up in South Africa where he gained valuable entrepreneurial experience from the businesses he established in a sometimes volatile, but always challenging economy.
In 2004, at the age of 50, his life took a traumatic turn when he contracted Meniere’s disease. Sudden and severe deafness, and a collapse of his health, resulted in the loss of his established Training Consultancy and with it his source of income and the future plans he had to grow his business in the UK.
What followed were several difficult years of adjustment to being isolated and unable to work. During this period James’ general health gradually improved but not his hearing. Although unable to work, his belief that the full commercial potential of employees is seldom realised, and the passion to help companies do this, did not waver.
Love Mondays is the result of James having turned his attention to converting his business knowledge and experience into a book.
The book is the encapsulation of Raath’s years of experience in training individuals, teams and companies, promoting his belief that a business is only ever as successful as the individuals working within it. Raath focuses on the drastic impact that a single person can have on a company if properly supported and enhanced by a culture that values them.
It is only within this environment that they can discover their own abilities and, with an entrepreneurial drive, become fully engaged in bringing their skill, passion and creativity to the business.
