Andrew Scott is Professor of Economics at London Business School and a Fellow of the Centre for Economic Policy Research. In his research, writing and talks Andrew focuses on the macro trends that shape the global environment. His main research focuses is on longevity and ageing as well as monetary and fiscal policy. He is the recipient of a number of academic prizes and has published widely in leading international academic journals.
His work on longevity emphasises the positive impact of a longevity dividend – that it isn’t just that there are more old people but how we are ageing is changing. Andrew’s 2016 book The 100 Year Life (written with Lynda Gratton) on this theme became a global best seller, translated into 14 languages and was runner up for both the FT/McKinsey and the Japanese Business Book of the Year Award 2016.
Previously he was Managing Editor for the Royal Economic Society’s Economic Journal and Non Executive Director for the UK’s Financial Services Authority. He has been an advisor to a range of governments and central banks on a broad range of economic issues. He is currently on the advisory board of the UK’s Office for Budget Responsibility, a member of the Cabinet Office Honours Committee (Science and Technology) and a co-founder of The Longevity Forum and Encore Fellows (UK).
He previously held positions at Harvard University, London School of Economics and All Souls, Oxford University. He has a MA from Oxford, a M.Sc. from the London School of Economics and a D.Phil. from Oxford University.
