The host of Countdown and Lord Alan Sugar’s right-hand man on The Apprentice, Nick Hewer has become a renowned television presenter and personality. Nick’s memorable facial expressions, fantastically dry humour and a lifetime’s business experience make him both a knowledgeable and witty television personality.
Hewer became involved with Alan Sugar when his PR firm was selected to represent Amstrad, Nick’s firm was responsible for all media handling of Sugar’s business and charitable activities. Nick played an integral to Alan Sugar’s empire for over 20 years, building an extensive client list including the ruler of Dubai, the late Sheikh Maktoum.
Nick sold his PR business and retired to his farmhouse in South West France. At first, Nick was reluctant to accept the offer, however Lord Sugar persuaded him, Nick was later quoted saying “I fought hard against it, but he cajoled me – in a muscular sort of way.”
Nick and opposite number Margaret Mountford took to the television screen like a duck to water, becoming surprise stars to the hit reality TV show.
