Martin Bayfield

Former rugby union player and current TV presenter, Martin Bayfield, played lock forward for Northampton Saints, Bedford Blues and England. At six foot ten inches Martin is one of the tallest rugby players of his generation which gave him an advantage when gaining thirty one England and three Lion caps. Recognised by many for playing the stunt double of Rubeus Hagrid in the entire Harry Potter franchise and a cyclops in Wrath of the Titans.

Martin enjoyed a successful international career between 1991 to 1996 where he won two Five/Six Nations Grand Slams, thirty one England caps and represented the British and Irish Lions in New Zealand 1993. However due to an injury Martin’s career on the field ended in 1998 where he had a swift transition into TV presenting and speaking at corporate events.

2012 saw Martin become a regular Crimewatch presenter on BBC1 and within his broadcasting career he presented the NFL and World’s Strongest Man while also working as a rugby correspondent on BBC Radio 5 Live. Although Martin’s time on the pitch had come to an end, his passion for rugby still continued off the pitch seeing him involved in the coverage of the 2011 and 2015 Rugby World Cup. Martin acted as a pitch-side reporter for ITV’s coverage across all major tournament fixtures and main presenter for the BT World Wheelchair Rugby Challenge 2015.

Now Martin is a key member of ITV’s broadcast team and regularly presents the RBS/Guinness Six Nations. Widely recognised for his presenting role on BT Sport’s Premiership Rugby and European Rugby Union tournaments along with his appearance on BBC One’s Celebrity Masterchef 2018 which saw him get to the finals.

One of the funniest after dinner speakers and award hosts on the corporate circuit, Martin is no stranger to entertaining. Providing rugby anecdotes teamed with stories of his time in the police and as Robbie Coltane’s body double, there’s no doubt Martin will engage and entertain any audience in front of him.

“Dear Martin, Thank you so much for hosting the INCA Awards last night. The feedback from the event has been excellent with members commenting on what an engaging and interesting speaker you were. It was lovely that you joined us for dinner and we were especially pleased at the way you engaged with our members, taking the time to sign autographs and pose for photographs. This was over and above what we expected and added real value to our event. Thank you once again for your time and I hope we have the opportunity to work together again in future.” – Alice INCA
