Jon has been an integral part of the success of the Great Britain Cycling Team at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, London 2012 Olympic Games and the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games. His commitment and dedication to developing talent of fellow sportsmen and women is commendable and paints him as a firm favourite in the sporting world. He has delivered at the cutting edge of elite sport both as an athlete, coach and mentor for over 15 years, competing with and successfully coaching world, Olympic and Paralympic champions.
Jon was selected to join the Great Britain Cycling Team in November 2003 to compete. He has many years of experience in track sprint competitions and holds a number of national titles. Jon represented Great Britain at a number of competitions, including the Sydney and Mexico World Cup events. Jon began training as a tandem pilot, taking a three year break with aspirations of qualifying for the Beijing Paralympics. He paired with Paralympic athlete Anthony Kappes, going on to break the world record in the kilo and win the sprint event at the 2008 VISA Paralympic World Cup.
As head coach of the Great Britain Paralympic Team, Jon has created and lead a high performance team of staff and athletes through a transformation of culture and performance resulting in huge success in the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games. The team finished number one in the cycling medal table and helped contribute to one of Great Britain’s most successful Paralympics of all time. He coaches some of the most talented and inspirational athletes on the planet with a no compromise approach to creating the highest levels of performance.
Outside his role with Great Britain Cycling Team, Jon has worked with a variety of organisations including Santander, UK Sport, Lloyds Bank, The Premier League and FA, delivering performance coaching, mentoring and keynote presentations. He is currently working for the premier league as a mentor on the elite coach apprenticeship scheme and also works with a number of financial institutions in the city, coaching fund managers on elite performance habits and decision making under pressure. Jon's knowledge and expertise in team leadership are extensive, and he enjoys developing the skills and talent of individuals.
