Jamie is an adaptive athlete based in Basingstoke, who competes internationally for Judo and Obstacle Course Racing. Within Judo, Jamie is currently placed in the top three in the world and compete against able-bodied individuals without wearing his prosthetic leg. As well as being an athlete, he also works with schools and colleges to help inspire young people through sport and speeches. He has previously performed speeches at Buckingham Palace for the Duke of Edinburgh Awards as well as many other schools and organisations.
After developing a chronic pain condition at the age of 9 and being confined to a wheelchair from 12, Jamie started fighting with the NHS at the age of 16 to have his foot amputated. Because of my condition, he was not able to use his right foot and was unable to place pressure on it, get it wet or even have the sheets on it at night. After 6 years of perseverance, Jamie eventually convinced doctors to amputate and that's really where his life started. He started walking for the first time in 14 years and started running shortly after. Since surgery, just two years ago, Jamie has completed over 50 Tough Mudder events including World's Toughest Mudder, a 24-hour endurance race.
