Viren Rasquinha enjoyed a former career as the Captain of the Indian National Field Hockey Team, having played 180 matches for India by the end of his career. A talented hockey player, Viren made his debut in 1999, playing his first major competition in 2001- claiming Gold at the Hockey Junior World Cup. From that point on Viren continued to demonstrate his hockey capabilities, going on to claim Gold at the Afro-Asian Games and Asia Cup in 2003 and Silver at the Asia Cup in 2002. His performance at such games earned him a position on the 2004 Athens Olympic Games Indian Hockey Team, finishing in 7th place at the games. Alongside playing for the Indian National Team, Viren was also a player for teams such as Maratha Warriors, Air India, Tata Sports and the Indian Oil Corporation.
Retiring from Hockey in 2008, Viren left the sport to pursue a corporate career, completing an MBA in Marketing and Strategy at the Indian School of Business. During his time playing hockey, Viren was also the Assistant Director of Human Resource Development for the Indian Oil Corporation Limited, an experience that he used to become the Director and CEO of Olympic Gold Quest. Olympic Gold Quest is a non-profit organisation dedicated to supporting the training and preparation of athletes, athletes who have the potential of securing Olympic medals for India. Their support enabled Indian athletes to secure medals at the London and Rio Olympic Games.
