Tim Flagg is the co-founder and CEO of UKAI, the UK’s only trade association for the AI industry. With nearly three decades of experience operating at the intersection of business, technology and artificial intelligence, Tim offers compelling and fascinating perspectives on the future relationship between British businesses and AI opportunities.
From early positions such as managing the BBC’s Natural History brand, Tim moved to NBCUniversal as Director of Marketing EMEA, successfully establishing two television channel brands. Following his tenure, he moved to Hutchinson Whampoa, where he launched and served as the Head of Advertising for INQ, an Android-based mobile handset deployed across India, Canada, Australia and the UK. In 2012, Tim joined the team at Zipcar as the EU Marketing Lead, through which he built and developed a digital marketing team responsible for performance, search and affiliates. The following year, Tim served as Managing Director of the Institute of Direct and Digital Marketing and Floream with AVADO, delivering online training and furthering his leadership and communication skills. Tim soon launched his own venture with AVADO, functioning as the Founding Director of The Academy of Digital Business Leaders. In 2016, he became the fractional Marketing Director for The Marketing Centre, providing strategic business services for a range of SMEs. After three years, Tim co-founded and served as COO of EntityX, applying AI systems to transform the landscape of targeted marketing. During this time, he was also the Marketing Director for Lumar, formerly known as DeepCrawl, where he worked to implement content-based marketing and oversaw the company’s first industry-leading conference, ‘DC Live’. In 2024, Tim co-founded and was CEO of Intelliquence, a service dedicated to widening everyday access to AI tools. That same year, he co-founded UKAI, an organisation committed to championing UK AI Leadership whilst fostering ethical and global collaboration of the technology.
Alongside his trailblazing career, Tim has also served as Non-Executive Director of Greater Than, a business using AI to help prevent road collisions and reduce CO2 emissions. As a passionate advocate for responsible and sovereign AI, Tim has authored several authoritative reports and is working on his forthcoming book, 'British AI'. Further strengthening his status within the AI sphere, Tim also presents 'The Business of AI' podcast for UKAI and has previously hosted podcast series for IoD and Clickz.
