Dr. Steve Ingham is a prominent figure in the field of sports science and high-performance coaching. A performance scientist, motivational speaker, podcaster, and founder of Supporting Champions. He is best known for his previous work supporting elite athletes and has worked with British athletes and teams in preparation for the Olympic Games. With 30 years of experience, he now works with individuals and businesses to help develop team performance.
Steve stepped into the sports world in 1996 after earning a degree in Sports Science and a PhD in Exercise Psychology. He has since worked with Olympic Athletes as a Sports Science Manager at the British Olympic Association and later worked as Director of Science and Technical Development at the English Institute of Work. Steve has worked with some of the world's greatest athletes including Jessica Ennis-Hill, Sir Steve Redgrave, and Sir Matthew Pinsent. After supporting over 1,000 athletes and leading many to success. During this time he played a pivotal role in shaping the performance strategies of British Olympic and Paralympic teams.
Steve has a wealth of knowledge in the art of applying science to the elite athlete, and has gone on to write the book, ‘How to Support a Champion: The art of applying science to the elite athlete’. The book has been widely praised, delving into the science of success in elite sports. Steve founded ‘Supporting Champions’ in 2016 and consults numerous sports teams, providing online course and delivering speeches to inspire and educate teams on high-performance coaching. Supporting Champions works with organisations such as Samsung and McLaren. He is also the host of the ‘Supporting Champions Podcast and has taught at Warwick Business School and the Said Business School at Oxford University.
Steve dedicates his time to helping high-performance teams and helping them with performance wellbeing and developing strategies for success.
