Captain Shalini Singh, is an esteemed Indian Army veteran with a truly remarkable story. She joined enlisted in the Indian army after the death of her husband – Major Avinash Singh Bhadauria, Kirti Chakra. An impossibly brave decision to make following such tragedy. Joining such a male dominated organisation had it’s own set of challenges for Captain Shalini but she triumphed through adversity and served for 6 years in the Indian Army, retiring to provide a more stable life for her young son.
Having had some incredibly difficult experiences, captain Shalini has since transferred her experienced from the army to the speaking stage, she is an active campaigner for the rights of women and a big advocate for following one’s passion. In her speaking career she has spoken at various corporations such as Revlon India, The Army Wives Welfare Association, Mukta Foundation Chennai. She is also regularly invited to judge in pageant competitions.
She has suffered remarkable injuries as part of her service to the Indian Army, and after being bed ridden for over a year, overcame her injuries to become an active runner again. Captain Shalini is known for her work in the support of various charities and organisations, she campaigns on behalf of children living in slums, animal welfare, disability awareness and the environment. She is also the face of the Indian Army campaign “do you have what it takes” a testament to her grit and determination.
Her services to her country has seen her receive many awards including Veer Nari Samman Puruskar, awarded by the Government of India, the Epic Award in 2018, and Citations of honours, awarded to her by the Lions Club and the All India Achievers Award. Captain Shalini is truly deserving of all her accolades. Now booked as a speaker she is regularly requested for corporate events and talent shows across the world.
