Sarah Ratty

Sarah Ratty is a conscious global fashion pioneer and a Sustainable Fashion Creative Mentor at the Creative Mentor Network. Transforming the fashion industry by integrating sustainability into design, having launched her own label “Conscious Earthwear” in the 1990s, Sarah is a revered name in the industry. She is now available to speak at a wide range of events about sustainability and fashion.

Sarah obtained a BA in Fashion and Textiles from the University of the West of England and has done a myriad of part-time courses from institutions such as the University of London, the University of Arts London, the University of Brighton and the University of Cambridge. As Founder and CEO of Conscious Earthwear, Sarah pioneered working with different eco-friendly materials including military waste, recycled plastic soda bottles and Oekotex-certified fabrics.

In 2003, Sarah founded Ciel – an award-winning eco-fashion and lifestyle womenswear brand. Ciel won several notable awards such as the UK Fashion Exports Award for Ethical Fashion in 2007 presented by HRH Princess Anne, the Observer Style Awards 2007 and British Chamber Awards for Sustainability in 2010. Her work has also been displayed in exhibited at the United Nations, Victoria & Albert Museum, Royal Academy, Barbican, Crafts Council, Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC, British Hotwave in Tokyo, Raffles in Singapore, Melbourne & Sydney and toured with the British Council to Brazil.

The creator of designs that have been donned by Cate Blanchet, Livia Firth, Eva Herzigova, Kate Moss and Sienna Miller, Sarah has collaborated with brands such as Whistles, Anthropologie, Top Shop, Dr. Martins, Monsoon and Norstrom as well.
