Dr Rangan Chatterjee is seen as one of the most influential medical professionals in the UK. With over 20 years’ experience as a GP, he is known for his pioneering approach to medicine and his attempts to revolutionise how it is practised. He is also an author and includes the international bestseller The Four Pillar Plan in the work he has published. As a speaker Rangan aims to empower the audience to take control of their health and provides them with practical tips to help them improve their lives.
He attended the University of Edinburgh where he graduated with a degree in medicine and an additional degree in Immunology. Since then, he has spent his career working as a GP with over 20 years’ experience. He is also a member of the Royal College of Physicians and the Royal College of General Practitioners. Working tirelessly to support his patients and develop new ways to support them he has quickly become known as a pioneer of medicine who is changing the way we look at health. Rangan focuses on what he calls the four pillars of health: Food, Movement, Sleep and Relaxation to help his patients make changes to their lives that will benefit their long-term health. He published The Four Pillar Plan, which became an international best-seller, to take his ideas to a wider public. He has since had success publishing three more books: The Stress Solution, Feel Better in Five and Feel Great, Lose Weight.
As well as an author Rangan is the host of iTunes Number 1 podcast Feel Better, Live More and Amazon podcast Built to Thrive. He also hosts his own show on BBC Radio Two. His work with the BBC was not confined to the Radio as he was the star of BBC’s TV show Doctor in the House, which was shown to audiences in over 70 countries. As well as appearing as a commentator on BBC news Rangan has written for the Guardian, The Daily Mail, and The Huffington Post amongst other leading press outlets and gave a TEDx Talk. His work and theories have been used to educate other health professionals as the co-creator of the Prescribing Lifestyle Medicine educational course. In 2018 the course was delivered to over 400 healthcare professionals, enabling them to use lifestyle medicine in their clinical practice. In recognition of his success, he made the Pulse Power 50 list for the most influential GPs two years running.
