Responsible for taking mathematics mainstream, Rachel Riley is the glamorous numbers expert on Channel 4’s Countdown. The well loved presenter has kept the game show at the forefront of British television with her down to earth character and relaxed approach to quick maths. Rachel has since been sought after to front a number of other series, and has gained a reputation as a popular sports presenter. A woman of many talents, Rachel appeals to a vast demographic of audiences, thanks to her media prominence and charming nature, making her the ideal host or facilitator for events.
Best recognised for her long standing role on Channel 4’s Countdown, Rachel has presented as the numbers and words based quiz show for over a decade. Quickly rising to prominence in the media industry, Rachel’s charming hosting skills saw her in demand to front a number of other series. Backed by her enthusiasm for STEM subjects, Rachel has gone on to present: The Gadget Show, It’s Not Rocket Science and 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown. However, Rachel’s talents aren’t limited to academics, and the popular presenter has become an established sports show host, thanks for her passion for football. Co-presenting Fantasy Football Club and Friday Night Football for Sky Sports, Rachel was a hit with fans and has continued to make contributions to the industry.
Attending the esteemed University of Oxford, Rachel graduated with a degree in mathematics, which gave her the foundation for an impressive career. After initially aiming to forge her future in finance, Rachel found the corporate world monotonous and soon turned to other avenues that would utilise her skill set. Making her television debut in 2009, Rachel was announced as the new maths and vocabulary expert on Countdown. With no media qualification and just her passion for the topic as guidance, Rachel soon became a favourite feature of the show.
Currently, Rachel is using her platform in the media to empower others, particularly women, to pursue STEM subjects, and has visited schools to engage pupils in the topic. Another important issue Rachel is actively involved in campaigning about is antisemitism, coming from Jewish heritage herself. Often speaking out on the matter, Rachel’s insight has seen her give influential speeches in parliament and given the 2019 Warrior for Truth Award.
From keynote talks on important campaigning, to celebrity hosting at an event, Rachel Riley can offer her star status, and public appeal at your occasion.
